The nine “Man of Steel” awards of the first Jackie Chan Action Movie Week were revealed on June 18, and director Wu Jing’s Wolf Warriors became the biggest winner and bagged four awards including Best Stunt Film, Best Actor, Best Specialty Stunt and Best Fight.
The 3D action war film Wolf Warriors about Chinese Special Forces soldiers was a box office hit, and as director and leading actor of this film, Wu said though the career of action movie actor was brief, but he would continue on this path.
“I’d like to thank Jackie Chan and the Shanghai International Film Festival for providing the platform and opportunities for action movie filmmakers, and I’d also like to thank my wife Xie Nan, I wouldn’t have achieved this without her support,” Wu said.
Chocolate is a Thailand female action movie. The film’s action supervisor Panna Rittikra passed away in 2014, and in memory of him, Rittikra was awarded Best Stunt Director.
A total of 23 action movies from China and overseas were screened during the five-day action movie week, and 15 among those were voted by the audience and competed for the “Man of Steel” award.
“This platform of action movie week is not for me, but for every action movie filmmaker, and we wish more people will understand their dedication and hard work,” Jackie Chan said. “We wish to pass the spirit and culture of Chinese people to the audience, the younger generations and the world through our works.”
