On May 19, 2021, the juries for the Short Video Unit of the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival were announced. They’re Ding Sheng (director), A Mei (screenwriter), Cheng Teng (animation director), Qi Xi (actress) and Liu Qian (editor-in-chief of Migu Video).

The Short Video Unit of the Shanghai International Film Festival got about 1,500 entries this year. After the primary and secondary selections by industry experts organized by the organizing committee and the selection by these 5 juries, 20 pieces of excellent works will be eventually selected from such entries and then presented during the 24th 赌博app. The creators of the 20 pieces of works will be invited to attend the field campaigns of the Short Video Unit, and have a chance to attend the award ceremony of Golden Goblet Awards and red-carpet ceremony of the 24th 赌博app.
In addition to a series of campaigns in the main venue of 赌博app, the Short Video Unit will offer several discovery classes at Shanghai Vancouver Film School, and invite the juries to share their creation experience with young image creators, helping the film industry develop and cultivate innovative talents.
Explore beyond limits, and further tap the potential of the industry. The Short Video Unit will adhere to the principle of injecting new blood into the development of the film industry and perfecting its new employee training system, so as to provide excellent young image creators with a demonstration and exchange platform and a wealth of learning resources, and to encourage young image creators to fall in love with films and become future dream makers.

Ding Sheng
Director
He is a national first-class director and one of the important representatives of Chinese crime action films, and currently teaches at Director Department of Beijing Film Academy. He served as a screenwriter, a director and a film cutter in many films. His main films include “Underdog Knight”, “Little Big Soldier”, “Police Story 2013”, “Saving Mr. Wu”, “Railroad Tigers” and “Trailer 02: S.W.A.T.”. Among them, “Saving Mr. Wu” won the Outstanding Film Award of the 16th China Huabiao Film Awards and the Best Editing Award of the 31st Golden Rooster Awards.
A Mei
Screenwriter
She has published a collection of stories, called “Night Is Still Young in Beijing”. The films, of which she serves as a screenwriter, mainly include “Knitting” (a film adapted from her novel, shortlisted for the Directors’ Fortnight during 2008 Cannes Film Festival), “The Law of Attraction”, “Under the Hawthorn Tree”, “A Wedding Invitation”, “Bitter Flowers” and “So Long, My Son”. Among them, “So Long, My Son” won several awards such as 2019 Golden Rooster Award for Best Writing and the best of the Best Screenplay Award of Youth Film Handbook (the 11th Edition).
Cheng Teng
Animation Director
In 2009, he produced his first animated short film “The Red” during his study at School of Animation and Digital Arts, Communication University of China. “Happy Anniversary”, a graduation short film directed by him one year later, won the Special Award at TOKYO ANIME AWARD FESTIVAL 2012. In 2012, he was admitted to USC School of Cinematic Arts. In 2014, he directed an animated short film “Higher Sky”. After graduation from USC School of Cinematic Arts, he joined DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. as a co-director. In 2017, he returned to China, and directed an animated film “Legend of Deification”. This film was released in 2020, and took RMB 1.6 billion at the box office. In 2021, he joined SUNAC Culture.
Qi Xi
Actress
She graduated from Department of Film and Television Directors of Central Academy of Drama. Her films mainly include “Mystery”, “Ever Since We Love”, “Someone To Talk To”, “So Long, My Son”, “Bitter Flowers”, “The Calming”, and “The Whistleblower”. In 2012, she won Golden Horse Awards Best Newcomer, Asian Film Award for Best Newcomer and Chinese Film Media Awards for “Mystery”. In 2018, she won the Best Performer Award at Lychee International Film Festival for “Bitter Flowers”. In 2019, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award of Youth Film Handbook for her role of Shen Moli in “So Long, My Son”. In 2020, she won the Best New Actress Award of the 15th Chinese Youth Film Week for his excellent performance in “The Calming”.
Liu Qian
Editor-in-chief of Migu Video
He is a media worker, a planner and a director. During the 10 years at CCTV, he served as a journalist, an editor-in-chief and a director, and directed a lot of major media events such as “CCTV Annual Economic Figures”, “Spring Warmth 2007” and “Cover Story”. In 2011, he began his Internet exploration and practice. Later, he successively served at Youku and PPTV, and planned and directed the first Youku video shows based on UGC. In 2019, he joined Migu Video. He takes full charge of content operation and is committed to driving the development of high-definition video industry by 5G and exploring the content-based Triple Play mode.
